Cybercriminals using PDFs to put malware on other peoples computers

A year-end report into cyber threats has found that cybercriminals are increasingly using PDFs to store malicious malware. Most email and web filtering allow all PDFs through their scans as they are a trusted source. However, this has been recognised by the cybercriminals and they are now attempting to put malicious software into the PDFs which can access your computer and collect any confidential data you may have.

Therefore we recommend you set up some security settings on your PDFs to ensure only the intended recipients can access them. It is also important that you only open PDFs if you know they are from a reliable source. Ensure all of your antivirus is up to date to try and prevent any malicious programs being put onto your computer.
